Find N Grind is hosting a premiere of Foundation Super Co’s. new video, Cataclysmic Abyss. It’s not until Feb. 16th, so mark your calendars today. The flyer contains all the necessary details.
Kevin Trayan has a new gig going on at the Red Scoot Inn. The guys running the Longbranch bought it and are remodelling it to feature largish shows. In the meantime, Kevin says, it’s not as yuppie as the Longbranch has become and it’s basically up for grabs by whatever clientele wants to take it over. In other Trayhan Topics, he’s added a spine to his backyard miniramp and is moving in with his fiance, which should manifest as a wedding in the fall. He’s keeping the house under his name, but is offering his room up for rent to a skater interested in having a kickass backyard ramp and Drew as a roommate.

I knew there had to be a catch. So this company (Grindline) comes from the Pacific Northwest to build all these concrete skateparks in Central Texas and we’re all stoked, but they’ve come at a price. Now we’ve got crappy, rainy, cold weather to contend with for weeks on end. If any climate scientists are reading this, please consider researching cradles and pool coping as a solution to global warming. Seems to turn drought-stricken areas into freezing mud pits.

The famed Donald D has written a response to my question, “What is Christmas like in Prison?” Here it is for those of you who might want to compare their own recent holiday experiences. I transcribed his letter adding paragraph breaks where it seemed appropriate.
Holidays / X-mas in the joint is different on all levels- too many “Time Bandits” in the mix. For some, this is the rest of their life, others just passing through so to speak. Myself, I’m just passing through with 2 more years and 5 months to go for Aiding and Abetting a marijuana deal- although I’m innocent and always will be. The jury saw it differently after TMW (name withheld for libel reasons) out of Santa Barbara testified and lied on me. Same as RD’s (name withheld for libel reasons) boy JM (name withheld for libel reasons) also lied on me.

At noon on Tuesday, two trucks of concrete arrived at the public skatepark being constructed by Grindline in Round Rock. The crew of 8 shot most of the bowl’s deep end with somewhere between 16 and 20 yards of crete. No photos as of yet, but the people I talked to said the pour went well. The schedule is to keep pouring each day for the rest of this week.

I’ve posted some photos of the progress up in Tyler by Dave Reynolds. It’s more done than not, but a lot is left to do. I skated the new bowl, which is a good layout. The rain only damaged part of the finish on one wall so far as I could tell.
Taggers hit the ARC prefab park next to EZ-7 in Houston. This televised news report connects graffiti to skateboarding because EZ-7 is covered in spraypaint. If you want to voice your opinion on this topic, please write to the Houston Channel 11 news, because it will be more effective than posting a comment on an obscure Austin skateboarding site that is only read by former members of the illuminati. Here’s a web-version of their news story.
NOTE: The photos on this story are from the Tyler construction project, not the Round Rock project.

I’ve worked at a lot of places with different sorts of restroom configurations. You have to know this is going to be an awesome Austin Skate Notes story when the context laid down in the first sentence involves shitters.

Welcome to 2007. Lots of big and exciting things are heading our way. Hang tight.
Three friends of mine are planning to marry women named Rachel in 2007. This exclusive club consists of Adam Young, Kevin Trayhan, and Paul Newman.
James Juneau is visiting the Round Rock skatepark construction site on a daily basis. He reported that a cradle has been injected into the layout opposite the oververt. Check Sunday’s photo collection of Rabbi’s handiwork.
