Disposable Camera Headquarters Incinerated
Posted by seth johnson under General , Patterson , skate zines[3] Comments
Shawn Rylander, Editor & Publisher of Disposable Camera zine, lost all of his belongings earlier this week when a fire gutted the house he was renting with Bryan Rogers. It’s assumed that Bryan also lost all of his stuff in the fire. Nobody was injured in the blaze that took place while nobody was home. Apparently someone visited the couch on their front porch while they were gone and left a cigarette burning on the piece of furniture, which then caught the rest of the house on fire.
Bryan is currently out of town, but Shawn has been given temporary housing by Chris Summers. Both of these guys could probably use some help recovering from this tragedy.
A photo of Chris Smith grinding @ Patterson is in competition for the ‘best photo of the day’ on the Statesman website. It’s #11 in the series of photos embedded in that flash presentation.
Jason Schmale has taken in a homeless cat that just gave birth to some kittens. He’s looking to adopt them out to good homes. Check out the cuteness.

No Comply has completed its move to its new location at 12th & Lamar anticipating the construction of a new public skatepark. Well, that’s still going to be several months away, but in the meantime, Jake Nunn & friends are hosting a party celebrating the release of Michael Sieben’s new signature Addidas shoe model. If you visit this link to the Addidas site supplied by Brete Anderson, you can watch the movie Michael shot in San Francisco about his shoes. (more…)

Ralph Barrera came by the Patterson Mini Ramp this afternoon and shot a photo for Thursday’s Statesman. Don’t know if they got the caption right, though.
According to the Austinist, Henry Rollins is bringing some monologues about himself in October. $25 bucks at La Zona Rosa. A couple weeks ago, Keith Morris came to the Mohawk and answered any question you had about Black Flag for $10 and there were other bands and some comedians.
That guy from the ‘Foot Fist Way’ and the forthcoming ‘Pineapple Express’ shot a short skateboarding movie. (more…)

The last time I saw Stephen Baldwin, he was shooting a skate video at Burnside. I think it was the beginning of his effort to re-create himself as the christian evangelist who knows how to talk the kid’s-of-today talk. As this scheme has unfolded over the years to build his x-treme ministry, it appears he has roped in sponsors such as Interstate Batteries to finance a skate demo tour of churches. According to a flyer my girlfriend found in a liquor store, he’s bringing Christian Hosoi to the Promiseland church next month. I haven’t decided if I’m going to attend, but I’m leaning against it. Should be a cool skate spot a couple blocks away for the church by then…..
Rumors are beginning to swirl about the internet that Jimmy Finley might return to Austin.
