Make-out Fair this Weekend

The evening skate sessions in Round Rock continue to gain heat as the outside temps drop. James Juneau is laying down some layback smith grinds over the loveseat that inspired Travis Burke to reference the deceased Blaize Blouin. Transplant-from-Dallas, Graham pulled a no-pads backside ollie-tailslide in the deep end. That was not long after his backside smith from deep to shallow over the loveseat the other day. The kid rips.No photos of these stunts, though, because my flash batteries need recharging. Speaking of Round Rock illumination, the new deal with the lights has them shutting off at 11:00 and except for one on the bowl that turns off 15 minutes later. Trash is becoming something of a problem again…
Maker’s Faire is this weekend. I lack the words to describe this conceptual event, except to say that Lee Brooks is supposed to be there demonstrating how to build a cradle with just a shovel, wheel barrow, and 4,200 bags of Quikrete.
If I didn’t know better, I would say the music industry is inhabited by a huge pack of marsupial wolves. Like the now-extinct Thylacine (Tasmanian Tiger), these people are unpredictably eccentric to the maximum. Our profit-obsessed forefathers would most certainly have put a bounty on them for stunts like the one Radiohead just pulled by releasing their new album via download at whatever price their fans want to pay. Some fans of Oklahoma’s Flaming Lips want a bounty on Wayne’s head right now for them taking payola from Big Tobacco to help recruit future cancer patients on their current tour. Finally, Billy Corrigan broke up the Smashing Pumpkins years ago saying, “…. the way the culture is and stuff, it’s hard to keep trying to fight the good fight against the Britneys.” Since then, the Pumpkins have turned the tables on Ms. Spears with such cruelty that the ex-diva shaved her head (and vagine) Corrigan-style in an attempt to placate her career-destroyer. Billy and the reunited Smashing Pumkins play the Backyard November 2nd. And on top of all this, the Angry Samoans will sing a song about poking your eyes out in Waterloo Park on November 3rd at the Fun Fun Fun Fest!

fireskill,
The last time I spoke with people at the City of Austin regarding this topic, they said New Line from Canada was considering signing on to do the design for the skatepark. They’re famous for having designed the Winnipeg plaza, which does have a bowl and I think a cradle. I would seriously doubt the House Park project will have no transition.

thank austin skate notes. work to getting a bunch of decent skateparks built in the area. (and more on the way) and all the skaters are too busy skating to sit at the computer to complain about lack of skateparks.
am i wrong about the travis county bond that passed… there will be a park built in the park on loyola near hwy 183?

pretty sure that park is inside the city limits. the county bond money has to go to a project in the county, but outside the city of austin. most likely, it will be in the northeast metro park, between pflugerville and manor along the 130 tollway. IF it ever gets built. that’s a much bigger issue to me, than “where.”
