For most people paying attention to newspaper headlines, this is old news. However belated, Steve Irwin deserves an ASN acknowledgement for his life’s environmental crusade. Using over-the-top slapstick wide-eyed physicality, the Crocodile Hunter got cable viewers young and old to listen to him talk about the challenges threatening wildlife around the world. He explained the positive role that snakes play in our ecosystem. He got people thinking about the shrinking habitat of jungle animals and helped increase pressure on endangered species traffickers. All the while making us laugh and think. G’bye, mate.
Check out this cool panoramic photo Chris shot at Mabel Davis.
I was in Kingwood over the weekend and visited their 4-year-old prefab skatepark. I shot these photos of the modular skatepark and provided some description of the type of skatepark that gets built when a city just doesn’t do its research.

its sad, and the people who have seen video of the event say that it is shocking. they want it to be destroyed because you see him die within seconds.

I can only pray to all the gods that I’m as lucky as Mr. Irwin and leave this world doin’ something that I love….

Many people aren’t aware that the Steve Irwin’s other love was surfing. He mentions it in this article–

I happened to see some footage of Steve surfing on TV one night a year ago or so and was blown away. I’m not talking about some middle-aged longboarder crusing on a gentle roller either, the dude flat-out ripped on a shortboard. So much so, that I couldn’t believe my eyes. He was all over the wave, off the top, cutbacks, etc. Incredibly long rides, too. The dude looked pro.
Makes me sad just thinking about it. He was a fellow boarder.
