This weekend is shaping up to be a whirlwind of philanthropy. I’ll be riding my 1986 Peugot 10-speed in the MS 150 from San Antonio to Corpus Christi raising $300 for Muscular Dystrophy. If you’re interested in helping to sponsor my ride, (tax-deductible) donations of all sizes are greatly appreciated. Shoot me an email - seth[at]austinskatenotes.org
Also down south, New Braunfels skaters are hosting a fundraiser skate jam on Saturday. Here’s their flash website, hopefully you’ll be able to find the event info on there. Skatepark of Austin is bringing their portable mini ramp to the event. Next time you see Cary Jackson, ask him how awesome the skatelite is on that ramp. Here are the details:
*What:* New Braunfels Public Skatepark Fundraiser Event
SPA Mini Ramp skating and SPA team Demo
Kids can skate ramp with helmet and waiver (at event)
*Where*: New Braunfuls Eikel Park
*When*: Saturday 10 - 4 pm*Directions:
*35 south exit #185
go to yeild sign, take right
go through stop park on right
Here in Austin, Stan and Mimi are hosting a beer bash to raise money for their dog’s surgery. Mimi sent me this flyer describing the event.
Yesterday I stopped by the Smithville skatepark and shot some photos. The locals seem pretty stoked on their park.

Smithvilles park has horrible transition, whoever built it needs to retire from making parks.

man, your negative attitude really sucks. horrible transition? the big wall is super fun to skate and the snake run is a snake run…what exactly do you think the problem is? but i will say the rail and the hubbas are a little too high for what little runway there is (but i don’t care because i have skating the rest of the park).

have “fun” that is.

Eric,
Did you see the pictures of the kids at that park? They don’t seem to mind the “horrible Transitions”….How dare you Eric, how dare you?
Please tell me what other transitions your comparing Smithvilles’ too, and I will tell you that Smithvilles budget was probably one/third.
Do you live in Smithville? Or do you live in a town that doesn’t even have a park?
PS…..Smithville is the only park in the state with a real snake run and if that aint cool I don’t know what is.

eric,
What a stupid thing to post. Even though it’s just your opinion - it still sucks. Don’t like it? Don’t skate it! You obviously have no clue who built it and what other transitions this guy has built. The kids out there seem to love it. The budget was next to nothing and every square inch of the place is skateable. Try staying in the loop, bub.
BTW: the word of A2 is the written word.
…Seth, I missed the part about BISCUITFEST.

Smithville is so REAL. I guess that doesn’t register to some people. The Photos got me fired up to head back out there. Corey has progressed very fast and all those kids get some at that spot. It’s the heart and soul of skating in a small TX town and I definitely relate. TEAM A-MINUS TESTED & APPROVED
Go ride a snakerun fool. only in Smithville. Where you can do Smith grinds in Smithville.
I just love to skate.
