finley to fakie
As I walked to the newspaper vending machine at the Flightpath this morning, I thought about how many times during the course of purchasing newspapers I’ve found that the stack of newspapers in the box has been depleted, but there’s one left in the door’s window. I wondered if there’s some trend among newspaper consumers to not take the paper from the door when they find the stack empty. Perhaps it’s an actual phenomenon. Anyway, after I inserted my 50 cents into the machine, the window copy was the last one in the machine.

Chad Balcom called in yesterday to report that Jimmy Finley is now the father of a newborn boy. Carly and Jimmy have chosen the name, Sloane, for their baby. Apparently, that’s some kind of gaelic word for “warrior“.

Kevin Trayhan’s ramp is a go. It’s been in operation for many months now, but I had never gotten around to visiting it until this week. Lots of fun and a cool atmosphere. James decided the ramp was prime for a rollin-to-50-50 grind from the roof of Kevin’s house. I couldn’t tell for sure, but it looked like Shannon was so stoked that he had pissed his pants during the session. Dave Wotney is in town to work on some local skatepark projects and hit the ramp with an assortment of blunts-to-shoveits.

Following the lead of Mike Crum in Dallas, local pro skater, Jake Nunn, has opened his own skate shop.

Darrell shot these photos of the progress on the Grindline skatepark under construction in Round Rock. Rabbi is now onsite and calling the shots. Looks like a lot of it will be built above-ground and then fill dirt will be shoved in around the sides.

FHM magazine has shut down. I’ve got some phone calls out there offering work to those unemployed models. Keep an eye on ASN as we transition to help fill in the void left by that periodical.
